Altoona tennis now 12-1

Ryan Good and Chris Reighard won singles matches, and the teams of Mustafa Ahmad and Joey Settimio and Sam Houk and Matt Eiman swept the doubles competition as Altoona topped Latrobe, 4-1, at Leopold in high school tennis on Wednesday.

Tussey triumphs

BEDFORD - Aaron Duvall and John Clark won singles matches for Tussey Mountain as it defeated Bedford, 3-2, in high school tennis.

Jack Bittner won a singles match for the Bisons, and Bedford's Cory Black and Kevin McDaniel teamed to win a doubles contest.

Neil Smith and Ronnie Brown won a doubles match for the Titans.

Tigers' netters win

HOLLIDAYSBURG- Amir Alkafaji, Max Sheetz, Jordan Kirsch, James Nackley and Chris Martinelli each posted singles victories to lead Hollidaysburg to a 10-1 win over visiting Indiana in high school tennis.

Hollidaysburg, which improved to 15-1, got doubles wins from the teams of Eric Miller and Sam Sky, Josh Cobler and Emre Cardakali, John Johnson and Brady Emeigh, Jesse Miller and Zach Kormanski and Matt Dodson and Ethan Brzana.

Lions spike Bearcats

Ethan Knepp scored 15 service points, and Eric Wineland dished out 25 assists to lead Altoona (5-3) to a 25-6, 25-17, 25-9 victory over Huntingdon in high school boys volleyball.

Brett Koehle had nine kills eight service points and four aces for Altoona. Huntingdon (0-10) got eight kills from Yogi Lovett and 10 assists, six service points, seven digs and four kills from Kevin McNeal.

ALTOONA: Knepp 15, McGarvey 9, Koelle 8, Clawson 8, Smith 3, Perino 2, Wineland 2.

JV: Altoona won, 25-16, 25-15. Altoona (8-0), Huntingdon (2-8). Bryce McGarvey led Altoona in service points with eight and also had five aces. Eric Wineland had 16 assists.

CC juniors lose

EBENSBURG - The Central Cambria junior high girls volleyball team dropped to 2-7 with a 26-24, 25-22 loss to Richland.

JV: Central Cambria won, 26-24, 9-25, 15-9.
