Joanne B. Wilt, 79, Altoona, died unexpectedly Monday at her residence.
She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late George Carnegie and Mary V. (Baranayi) Ferris. She married Thomas F. Wilt on May 1, 1955, at St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church.
Surviving are her husband; two sons: Corey T. and wife, Patti A. (Cogan), and Craig T.; two grandchildren: Cody S. and Brandi M. Wilt; a sister, Jackie J. Riccio and husband, Richard; and a brother, George C. Ferris and wife, Mona. All are of Altoona. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Mary G. Foose, and her husband, James.
Joanne was a 1951 graduate of Altoona High School. She retired from H&R Block as a tax preparer with many years of service. She had also worked at J.C. Penney, Sylvania, Gable's Department Store and Carnegie Equipment, Altoona.
Joanne enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren and watching her grandchildren play baseball. She also loved animals.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 2, 2013, at The Stevens Mortuary Inc., 1421 Eighth Ave., Altoona, where a Trisagion service will be held at 4 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, May 3, 2013, at St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church by the Rev. Anthony G. Roeber. Interment will be at Alto-Reste Park Cemetery.
