Betty Louise Irvin, 89, Williamsburg, passed away Sunday afternoon surrounded by her loving family at The Village at Morrisons Cove, Martinsburg, after a lengthy illness.
She was born in Williamsburg, daughter of the late Orville C. and Alma (Perrin) Lynn. She married Nelson L. "Rusty" Irvin on July 16, 1943, in Williamsburg.
Surviving are her beloved husband of nearly 70 years; two daughters: Cindy Michelone and husband, Jerry, of Homer City and Marsha Williams and husband, Ron, of Williamsburg; four grandchildren: Jeffrey (Nancy) Michelone, Jeremy (Amy) Michelone, Rob (Tammy) Stultz and Michelle (Mark) Welch; two stepgrandchildren; five great-grandchildren: Juliana, Caitlynn, Hunter, Kara and Rylee; and seven stepgreat-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Bill Stultz; a brother, Harold E.; and two sisters: Rosella Hammond and infant Marguarite.
Betty was a 1943 graduate of Williamsburg High School. She was a member of Williamsburg Church of the Brethren, where she was a member of the Gleaners Sunday school class.
Betty was a homemaker who enjoyed shopping and puzzle solving. She was an ardent sports fan, avidly following the Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers. In her younger years, she especially enjoyed ice skating and playing softball. She loved teaching her grandchildren how to play baseball and then watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren participate in all of their various activities.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 1, 2013, at John C. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Williamsburg. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 2, 2013, at Williamsburg Church of the Brethren, Pastor Lee D. Saylor officiating. Interment will follow at Shellytown Fairview Cemetery, rural Williamsburg.
The family prefers that memorial contributions be given to AseraCare Hospice or Williamsburg Volunteer Fire Company, Station 90.
