Reida M. Williams, 86, formerly of Altoona, died Saturday afternoon at Garvey Manor.
She was born in Lakemont, daughter of James H. and Clara (Mangus) Yon. On Sept. 3, 1943, she married Charles A. Williams in Lakemont. He preceded her in death on May 3, 1991, after having shared 47 years of marriage.
She is survived by a daughter, Judy D. Kubica and husband, Anthony, of Altoona; a son, Charles A. "Chuck" Jr. and wife, Gwenn, of Duncansville; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters: Patricia McGinnis and Doris Jenkins, both of Altoona; and two brothers: James H. Yon Jr. and Russell E. Yon, both of Altoona.
She was preceded in death by two brothers and five sisters.
Reida retired from Blair County Christian Home after 25 years as head supervisor.
She was a member of Pleasant Valley Assembly of God where she taught Sunday school for 24-plus years. She was also an active member of 55 Alive Senior Class with her sister Wilda, who preceded her in death.
She enjoyed walking and visiting people.
Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 2, 2013, at Sorge Funeral Home Inc., Hollidaysburg. A funeral service will be held at 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home by the Rev. William L. Zimmerman. Interment will be at Blair Memorial Park.
