Rose A. Cowher, 80, Tyrone, died Thursday at Tyrone Hospital.
She was born in Tyrone, daughter of Salvatore and Rosalie (Crisafoli) Cannistraci. She married David L. Cowher on June 13, 1952, at St. Matthew Catholic Church, Tyrone, and he died April 10, 2002.
Surviving are a son, John S. and wife, Marcia, of Tyrone; a daughter, Judy A. Tiedt and husband, Douglas, of Lancaster, S.C.; five grandchildren: Chad and Shane Cowher and Joshua, Jeremy and Crystal Tiedt; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters: Nina Biddle and Mary Jane Cornelius, both of Tyrone; and three brothers: Carmelo "Charlie" and wife, Anna, Anthony "Geno" and wife, Shirley, and Joseph and wife, Darla, all of Tyrone.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Angelo Cannistraci.
Rose retired in 1995 from Big Yank, Tyrone, as a sewing machine operator after 25 years of service. She had been a self-employed housekeeper for many years. She was a member of St. Matthew Catholic Church, Tyrone.
Rose enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, family and friends. She liked sitting on her back porch watching the sun set over the horizon. We are sure she will now be doing the same with her beloved husband.
Friends will be received from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, April 28, 2013, at Feller Memorial Home, Tyrone. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at noon Monday, April 29, 2013, Father Carl Spishak as celebrant. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery.
Memorial gifts may be made to St. Matthew School, 1105 Cameron Ave., Tyrone, PA 16686.
