Ryan J. Keresey, 28, Bellefonte, died Wednesday at Mount Nittany Medical Center, State College, after a long courageous journey with cancer.
He was born in Altoona, son of David W. Keresey and the late Mary M. (Marhefka) Keresey. He married Holly Sheaffer on Oct. 24, 2009.
Surviving are his wife; his father; a brother, Daniel P. and fiancee, Barb Bordell, of Altoona; a sister, Rachael A. Lenhart and husband, Michael, of Altoona; a brother-in-law, Kirby Frymoyer of Kreamer; two nieces: Caitlyn and Madison; two nephews: Blaze and Seth; his maternal grandmother, Jane Marhefka of Mifflintown; his mother-in-law, Wanda Graybill of Mount Pleasant Mills; and his beloved cat, Hope.
He was preceded in death by his mother; his father-in-law, Samuel Graybill Jr.; his paternal grandparents, William and Cleo Keresey; and his maternal grandfather, Frank Marhefka.
Ryan was a 2003 graduate of Altoona Area High School and attended the Pennsylvania College of Technology, Williamsport. He was previously a Pennsylvania state constable and a diesel mechanic. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Bellefonte.
Ryan enjoyed hunting, going to Penn State tailgates, rooting for Notre Dame and the Altoona Curve and working in his cousin's blacksmith shop.
Friends will be received from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, April 28, 2013, at The Stevens Mortuary Inc., 1421 Eighth Ave., Altoona, where a vigil for the deceased will be held. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 29, 2013, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church. Committal will be at Calvary Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to any branch of Swineford National Bank or the Fulton Bank in State College or Bellefonte in care of Holly Keresey.
