May 8, 1920 - April 20, 2013
Margaret M. McCreary, 92, Sicklerville, N.J., formerly of 409 Bell Ave., Altoona, died Saturday morning after an extended illness.
Known to her family and friends as Peg, she was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Joseph E. and Margaret M. (Hogan) Kelly. She married Frank R. McCreary on Sept. 18, 1947, at St. Leo the Great Catholic Church, Altoona, and he died on Aug. 19, 1995.
Peg is survived by two daughters: Diane and Mary A., both of Sicklerville, N.J.; and many wonderful friends.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Teresa Kelly; and four brothers: Francis "Babe," Joseph, Eugene and James Kelly.
Peg was a 1938 graduate of Altoona Catholic High School. She retired in 1979 from A&P Bakery after many years of service. She was a longtime member of St. Mark's Catholic Church, and she enjoyed an active participation in parish activities.
She was an active and energetic person who loved growing flowers, cooking meals for family and friends, going on outings to the shore and singing Irish songs. She will be remembered for her sense of humor, quick wit and kind spirit, and she will be greatly missed.
Friends will be received from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday, April 27, 2013, at The Stevens Mortuary Inc., 1421 Eighth Ave., Altoona, followed by a funeral service at 10 a.m. in Stevens Memorial Chapel by Father Carl Spishak. Interment will be at Alto-Reste Park Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be sent to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38148, in Peg's memory.
