Clyde R. Swanson Jr., 51, Tyrone, died Sunday at his residence.
He was born in Spangler, son of the late Clyde R. Sr. and Joyce (Wagner) Swanson. He married Rita L. Welsh on July 19, 1991, in Winchester, Va.
Surviving are his wife; a son, Steven at home; two stepdaughters: Christin Rhoades and husband, Andy, of Altoona and Valerie House and husband, J.R., in Florida; four stepgrandchildren: Blaize, Piper, Rylynn and Camden; three sisters: Janet Beckel and husband, Pat, of Marsteller, Debbie Wolfe of Philipsburg and Joyce Pittman and husband, Lester, of Cherry Hill; a brother, Ken of Warriors Mark; his mother-in-law, Mary Welsh of Williamsport; and several nieces and nephews.
Clyde was a 1979 graduate of Northern Cambria High School and was employed at Harris Masonry, Pittsburgh, as lead laborer for the past 12 years. He had worked previously for Maurice Lawruk, Altoona. He was a sergeant-in-arms for the Laborers' International Union 824.
Clyde enjoyed woodworking and cooking. He was a dedicated husband and father and enjoyed life and spending time with his many friends.
Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 24, 2013, at Feller Memorial Home, Tyrone. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 25, 2013, at Church of the Good Shepherd, Tyrone, the Rev. Norman E. Huff officiating.
