Joseph Bondi Jr., 82, Hollidaysburg, died early Sunday morning at The Winds at Mattern Orchard, Duncansville.
He was born in Yatesboro, Armstrong County, son of the late Joseph and Anna (Peresie) Bondi. He married Wanda M. Miller on Aug. 27, 1955, in Tarentum, and she died Dec. 20, 2009, after having shared 54 years of marriage.
Surviving are a daughter, Andrea A. of Fairfax, Va.; two sons: Joseph III of Moses Lake, Wash., and Jonathan D. of Fairfax, Va.; five grandchildren: Eryka, Joshua, Alison, Elizabeth and Samantha; and two brothers: Louis and Francis, both of Ford City.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Bondi.
Joseph was a 1949 graduate of Shannock Valley Senior High School, Rural Valley, and earned a bachelor's degree in civil engineering at Penn State University in 1960. He served as a corporal in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict, and he retired from PennDOT.
Joseph was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Hollidaysburg, and also belonged to Juniata Lodge 282, F&AM, and Tall Cedars of Lebanon. He served on the board of Rails-to-Trails and Penn's Woods Council and was the scoutmaster of Troop 55, Hollidaysburg, for 10 years.
Friends will be received from 1 to 4 p.m. Thursday, April 25, 2013, at Sorge Funeral Home Inc., Hollidaysburg, where a Masonic service will be held at 3:45 p.m. and a funeral service will follow at 4 p.m. by the Rev. Sharon C. Erb. Interment will be at Lawn Haven Burial Estates, Worthington.
