CALIFORNIA, Pa. - A California University of Pennsylvania basketball player from Huntingdon has been ordered to stand trial on charges he raped a sleeping female student in her dorm room.
Jeremy Posey, 19, a former Mirror first-team all-star in basketball and track and field, was ordered to stand trial after a preliminary hearing Wednesday, over his attorney's objections.
Defense attorney Jill Sinatra said the case is based only on the "bald accusations" of the woman, arguing "There needs to be more than, 'The guy did it.'"
The woman acknowledged she had sex with Posey once in the past, but told him not to expect sex when she invited Posey over March 9 after arguing another man she was dating.
The woman said she told the sophomore player twice she didn't want to have sex, but woke up to find him holding her down and having sex with her.
