MARTINSBURG - Clearfield Bank & Trust Co. plans to open its second Blair County office by the end of the month.
Plans call for the new Morrisons Cove office on Route 866 just south of here to open on April 29.
"We believe Martinsburg is a vibrant community and based on the demographic studies we did it is a community that is growing and doing well," William E. Wood, president and CEO, said.
"No question, certain communities bring different things to the table. Martinsburg is a farming community and a lot of the industry supports agricultural businesses. We saw an opportunity for small-business lending. That is one of our niches."
Agricultural lender Valerie Detwiler will be moving from the Williamsburg office to the new Morrisons Cove office.
"People don't traditionally think of farms as small businesses, but that's exactly what they are and they help to support both Blair County and Pennsylvania's number one industry - agriculture," Detwiler said.
"We specialize in helping small-business owners to succeed. As a result, we have tried to adapt our ideas to meet the needs of the Morrisons Cove community, whether it be to make a loan to a farmer to expand his dairy operation, provide working capital to a start-up retail location, or help a young couple purchase their first home."
The new office, which will employ a staff of six, will be Clearfield Bank & Trust Co.'s 14th branch office.
Lobby and drive-up hours will be 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to noon Saturday.
