Lena A. Colyer, 93, Altoona, died Saturday at her residence, lovingly surrounded by her family, after an extended illness.
She was born in San Marco in Lamis, Foggia, Italy, daughter of the late Carlo and Rosa (Nardella) Risoldi. She married Elwood "Bud" Colyer on Oct. 10, 1955, and he preceded her in death Feb. 12, 1966.
Surviving are three children: Carl R. Colyer (Gale) of Altoona, Pamela Klobuka (Joseph) of Hollidaysburg and Deborah Knab (Richard) of Altoona; four sisters: Rose Nail of Altoona, Caroline Manion of Duncansville, Mary Ann Cole of Hollidaysburg and Jean Franco of Duncansville; seven grandchildren: Carl Colyer Jr., Elaine Smolock, Andrea Schurr, Andrew and Ashley Klobuka, and Lindsey and Natalie Knab; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Gennero "Jerry" Risoldi.
Lena was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. She enjoyed cooking, baking, flower gardening and entertaining in her home. She was an especially loving mother and grandmother who was devoted to her family.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, April 19, 2013, at The Stevens Mortuary Inc., 1421 Eighth Ave., Altoona, where a vigil for the deceased will be held. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 20, 2013, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church by Monsignor Michael Becker. Committal will be at Greenwood Cemetery.
