Covering the bases

April 11, 2013
The Altoona Mirror

LEADING OFF: The Curve were rained out Wednesday at Akron, which means RHP Jameson Taillon will not start tonight's home opener against Harrisburg at Peoples Natural Gas Field. The rainout pushes back the Curve rotation, so RHP Casey Sadler, who was supposed to pitch Wednesday, will go tonight instead, while Taillon will pitch Friday night.

SAFE AT FIRST: Sadler was impressive in his season debut at Erie, giving up one run on five hits in six innings and getting the victory.

STEALING SECOND: OF Andrew Lambo got a lot of notoriety Tuesday night and throughout Wednesday after hitting for the cycle against Akron. His was the first cycle by a player in the majors or minors this season, as well as the first in Curve history.

ROUNDING THIRD: No makeup date has been set yet for Wednesday's rainout at Akron.

HEADING HOME: The giveaway for tonight's game at PNG Field is a magnet schedule for the season.
