Betty Louise Saussol, 88, passed away Friday at the Donnell House Hospice in Washington, Pa.
She was born in Altoona, daughter of Charles and Marie (Weise) Rollins. She married Thomas J. Flaherty in 1940, and he preceded her in death. On Aug. 28, 1970, she married Henry J. Saussol of Hollidaysburg, and they were happily married for 29 years until his death.
Surviving are four children: Carol A. (Flaherty) Sullivan of Endwell, N.Y., Thomas J. Flaherty Jr. of Conemaugh, Dennis P. Flaherty of Altoona and Lisa M. (Flaherty) Lohsl of Wheeling, W.Va.; 11 grandchildren: Patti Delia, David Brown, Kathleen Jones, Timothy Sullivan, Michael Flaherty, Marie Stonebraker, Barry Lohsl, Franny Flaherty, Erik Lohsl, Kathryn Lohsl and Joshua Flaherty; and 16 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda R. Flaherty; and a son, John Michael Flaherty.
Betty was a member of the Miniature Club in Hollidaysburg. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting, and in 1976, she crocheted a bicentennial flag for the Borough of Hollidaysburg.
Friends will be received from 2 until the 3 p.m. memorial service Saturday, April 13, 2013, at New Hope Baptist Church, Duncansville, Pastor Donald Robson officiating.
