Richard L. "Dick" Yohn, 70, Altoona, went home to be with the Lord Monday at Altoona Regional.
He was born in Altoona, son of the late Richard Sr. and Rosemary (Dollar) Yohn. He married Theresa "Terri" Omlor in 1968.
Surviving are his wife of 46 years; five children: Robbie (Bonnie) in Missouri, Jennifer Yohn-Smith (Chris) of Lilly, Richard of Altoona, Jeff (Diana) of York and Rodney (Tanya) of Loretto; nine grandchildren: Zach, Dillon, Robbie, Brittany, Brett, Jacob, Zachary, Natashia and Katanna; three great-grandchildren: Jada, Jaxon and Brody; three siblings: Nancy Newkirk, Rosemary "Peenee" and Gary, all of Altoona; his mother-in-law, Erma Moschella-Omlor; a sister-in-law, Patti Swires; as well as nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Bobby.
Dick attended Altoona High School and served in the U.S. Navy. He retired from Robert Haney Inc. as a foreman with 31 years of service. He was a member of the former Fourth Lutheran Church, Altoona.
After retirement, Dick enjoyed painting, landscaping and building model cars. He loved spending time with his family during their yearly vacations in the Outer Banks on Hatteras Island and working construction with his sons daily. He will always be remembered for his sense of humor and making people wonder how he did it.
Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 11, 2013, at Leslie E. Axe Funeral Home, 1520 Fourth St., Altoona. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, April 12, 2013, at Axe and Santella Family Chapel, 1534 Fourth St., Altoona, by Pastor Peter Helmers.
