James H. "Red" Fagan Sr., 83, Ferndale Park, Antis Township, died late Friday evening at his home.
He was born in Gallitzin, son of the late Robert Sr. and Thelma (Chilcoat) Fagan. He was twice married, first to Thelma Blontz, who died in 1988; he then married Kathryn C. Smeal in 1988.
Surviving are his wife; a son, James H. Jr. of Altoona; a daughter, Linda J. Alley of Glasgow; five grandchildren: Jamie, Chelsea, Summer, Crystal and Donald; seven great- grandchildren: Jackson, Owen, Lily, Amber, Shania, Britney and Michael; a sister, Mary McMasters of Altoona; and a very special great-nephew, Roger.

He was preceded in death by a son, William C.; and six siblings: Elsie Rhodes, William "Fats," Ruth Lamertina, Homer Paul, George and Robert.
Red was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean conflict. He owned Fagan's Auto Body, retiring in 1985 after 19 years of service. Red enjoyed fishing, working with leather and wood and playing country music with his friends.
Friends will be received from noon to 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 9, 2013, at Jon C. Russin Funeral Home, Bellwood, where a funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. with Pastor Timothy Guyer officiating. Interment will be at Logan Valley Cemetery, Bellwood.
