Suzanne K. Green, 80, Duncansville, died Friday morning at her home.
She was born in Johnstown, daughter of John and Sara (Washington) Keelan. She married Robert E. Green on Jan. 3, 1955, in Johnstown.
Surviving are her husband, with whom she shared 58 years of marriage; a daughter, Carolyn Wharton and husband, Joseph, of Harrisburg; a son, Kenneth of Mount Lebanon; and a grandson, Jacob Wharton of San Francisco, Calif.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Amy Trimble, in 2006.
Susie was a 1950 graduate of Southmont High School, where she was an honor student, participated in sports and cheerleading and gave the senior speech at graduation. She attended State Teacher's College in Lock Haven, participated in tennis and cheerleading and sang with Fred Waring and his Pennsylvanians.
Transferring to State Teachers College at Indiana, Pa., she graduated in 1954 as an honor student in elementary education and started her teaching career in Johnstown. She married Bob Green in 1955, and they lived in Alaska for two years while he served with the military. Returning to Pennsylvania, she attended graduate school at the University of Pittsburgh while teaching in the Penn Hills and Gateway schools.
The family moved to Hollidaysburg, where she taught for 33 years before retiring. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Hollidaysburg.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Sorge Funeral Home Inc., Hollidaysburg. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 9, 2013, at First Presbyterian Church, Hollidaysburg, by the Rev. Charles D. Monts. Interment will be at Alto-Reste Park Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to be made to the children's reading program at the Hollidaysburg Area Public Library.
