Merrill T. "Tom" Kephart Jr., 68, Hollidaysburg, died unexpectedly Monday afternoon at his residence.
He was born in Altoona, son of the late Merrill T. and Helen I. (Taylor) Kephart.
Surviving are a daughter, Sharon E. Forlina and husband, Tom, of Altoona; a son, Scott A. and wife, Jennifer, of Carnegie; four grandchildren: Eric, Anthony, Hunter and Tanner; two sisters: Margaret Stonerook of Martinsburg and Deloris Handra of Pittsburgh; and a brother, Timothy of Altoona.
He was preceded in death by a son, John, in 1977.
Tom was a 1963 graduate of Hollidaysburg High School and served in the U.S. Army as a sergeant during the Vietnam conflict. He retired as a welder from the Samuel Rea Shop, Conrail. He was a member of American Legion Post 516, and he enjoyed fishing and hunting.
Friends will be received from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, April 4, 2013, at Sorge Funeral Home Inc., Hollidaysburg, followed by a funeral service at 7 p.m. by Father Anthony J. Legarski. Interment will be at Riverview Cemetery, Leamersville.
