Well, Altoona, now the government is snooping into your garbage.
On Thursday, March 13, I was out cleaning snow from my sidewalk, when I noticed a man going up and down my block, from side to side, opening everyone's garbage can, looking inside and, in some instances, opening garbage bags.
Upon my questioning him, I was told that he was from the Intermunicipal Relations Committee and was checking everyone's garbage can to see if they needed recyclable bins.
The last time I looked, those containers were a bright blue with a recyclable emblem on the front and were never placed inside a garbage can.
In this distressed city's time of need, where did our government find the funds to establish an IRC? Over the years, the city has wasted so much money on the recycling program and still it isn't resolved.
Could it be the city government is looking to police the garbage so they can put their hand in the taxpayer's pocket, hence, more revenue?
When will it end?
