A Tyrone man allegedly crawled through a roof vent at a Logan Township store to steal two cases of beer.
Police said Cassidy's Brew Zoo in the Pleasant Valley Shopping Center was open for business Wednesday when Derek T. Dasher, 20, of 425 W. 19th St., allegedly climbed down the vent that leads to the store's beer cooler just before 5 p.m.
An employee, who was one of two people working, spotted Dasher, police said, but not before Dasher grabbed two 30-packs of Keystone Light, valued at $36.99, and bolted out the back door. The employee gave chase and caught Dasher in a grassy area behind the shopping center, police noted.
Dasher was in the store's office when police arrived and allegedly admitted to the caper. Police said the roof vent was damaged and a window to a storage garage used by the Sherwin Williams paint store and situated behind The Brew Zoo also was broken.
Dasher was booked on felony burglary and criminal trespass charges as well as counts of misdemeanor theft, receiving stolen property and criminal mischief. Magisterial District Judge Craig Ormsby set bail at 10 percent of $40,000. Dasher was lodged in Blair County Prison after failing to post bond.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for April 4 before Magisterial District Judge Steven Jackson.
