Marian ‘Mamie’ Blazevich

Marian "Mamie" Blazevich, 86, Imler, passed away Thursday at Nason Hospital.

She was in East Freedom, daughter of the late Leo and Marie Catherine (Claar) Dodson. She married Michael "Mick" Blazevich on July 3, 1976. He passed away on March 10, 1994.

She is survived by two sons: Kenneth Smith and wife, Delores, of Roaring Spring and H. Michael Smith of Imler; a daughter, Suzanne Strong of Harrisburg; six grandchildren: David, Cindy, John, Amy, Amber and Erin; four great-grandchildren: Avery, Anthony and twins Roslynn and Eva; brothers: Lawrence "Mike" and Vincent Dodson; sisters: Regina Delozier, Inez Biesinger, Barbara Leslie and Colleen Ercole; a sister-in-law, Judy Dodson; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by brothers: Paul and Raymond Dodson; and a sister, Loretta Walter.

Mamie was a 1945 graduate of Hollidaysburg High School and a 1961 graduate of the Altoona Beauty School of Cosmetology.

She owned and operated Mamie's Beauty Salon in Roaring Spring for many years and then managed the Milky Way in East Freedom for 12 summers prior to her retirement.

She was a member St. Anne's Chapel, Claysburg, the American Hairdressers Association and the K.S.G.M.A.

She enjoyed decorating, needlework, country and gospel music and was an Elvis Presley fan.

Friends will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Leslie-Miller Funeral Home, Claysburg. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Patrick's Church, Newry, with Monsignor Anthony Little officiating. Interment will be at New St. Mary's Cemetery, Hollidaysburg.
