Barbara J. Swope, 66, Altoona, died Tuesday at her residence.
She was born in Ebensburg, daughter of the late Russell and Josephine (Rudolph) Swope.
Surviving are an aunt, Patty Swope; and numerous cousins.
Barbara was a 1964 graduate of Bishop Guilfoyle Catholic High School. She was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War, serving from 1964-68, and she retired from the administrative offices of the Van Zandt VA Medical Center. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Catholic Daughters of the Americas and Secular Franciscan Order.
Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, March 17, 2013, at The Stevens Mortuary Inc., 1421 Eighth Ave., Altoona, where a vigil for the deceased will be held Sunday evening. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, March 18, 2013, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church by Father Michael Becker. Committal will be at Calvary Cemetery.
