Barbara (Carruth) Ginter, a longtime Hollidaysburg resident, passed away Sunday.
She was born in DuBois, daughter of Frank T. and Julia (Devenney) Carruth. She married Henry E. Ginter on Aug. 9, 1948, in DuBois; he preceded her in death on Oct. 2, 1994.
She is survived by her only sibling, Nancy (Carruth) Noker of Indiana, Pa. She will be sorely missed by a niece, Susan N. "Susie" Karloski and husband, Ronald, of Murrysville and their daughter, Kristin Ludl (Mark) and family of Chappaqua, N.Y.; a niece, Julie A. Noker of Portola, Calif., and her children, Nicole Berglund of Las Vegas, Nev., Jennifer Berglund and family of Portola, Calif., and Matthew Berglund of Columbus, Ohio; and a nephew, David C. Noker of Indiana, Pa.
She is also survived by Henry's niece, Kathy Miller (David) and family of Peachtree City, Ga.; a nephew, Richard Traister and family in California; and her second cousins: Andy Warren of Seattle, Wash. (her ocean cruise buddy), and David Hofheimer of Portola, Calif.
Barbara was employed by Bell Telephone from 1941-53. She retired from the Office of Employment Security, Department of Labor and Industry, in 1985 after 20 years of service. She attended St. Mary Catholic Church. She enjoyed golfing, traveling, doing crossword puzzles and having her tiny glass of wine.
Friends will be received from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, March 18, 2013, at Plank, Stitt & Stevens Funeral Home, 421 Montgomery St., Hollidaysburg. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 19, 2013, at St. Mary Catholic Church, Hollidaysburg. Committal service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Morningside Cemetery Chapel, DuBois.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary Catholic Church, Hollidaysburg Area YMCA or Hollidaysburg Area Public Library.
