Paul Raymond Westenkirchner Sr., 66, Frederick County, Va., continued his journey Wednesday, March 13, 2013, at Winchester Medical Center.
He was born in 1946 in Altoona, son of the late Paul F. and Etta M. Westenkirchner. He married Sandra Kay Pope on Oct. 7, 1967, in Altoona.
Surviving are his wife of nearly 46 years; a daughter, Sue Trussell and husband, Michael, of Bedford, Va.; a son, Paul R. Jr. and wife, Carey, of Southington, Ohio; Paw's three grandchildren: Michael Trussell II, Mark Trussell and Audrey Trussell; and his constant companion, Hudson, his English Springer spaniel.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Frank.
Paul was a 1964 graduate of Altoona High School. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, achieving the rank of staff sergeant, and he was an avionics senior field service engineer with Honeywell Aerospace, retiring in 2011.
Paul was a member of Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in Winchester, Va. He considered himself a "Jack of all trades, master of none." He liked to use the phrase "Always keep your nose up in the turns." His knowledge and professionalism, his willingness to share and help others succeed, and the enthusiasm which he brought every day made him truly inspirational.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, March 16, 2013, at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel, Winchester, Va., where a funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 17, 2013, Pastor Arthur Faught officiating. A private family interment will be held later at Shenandoah Memorial Park.
