Donald R. Hansis, 92, of 111 Pickwood Crescent, Pointe-Claire, Quebec H9R 3M3, Canada, died peacefully March 6, 2013.
He was born in Boston, Mass., son of Louis and Lillian (Reifel) Hansis. He married Jennie McCready of Duncansville, with whom he shared more than 65 years of marriage.
Surviving are his wife; four sons: Robert, Richard, Ronald and Scott; 11 grandchildren: Derek, Justin, Jason, Samantha, Carly, Taylor, Donald, Tyler, Dylan, Devin and Jillian; and a great-grandson, Spencer.
Don was a 1943 graduate of Northeastern University with a degree in business administration. He was a U.S. Army Signal Corps veteran of WWII, serving in the South Pacific as a staff sergeant. He retired from the U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service after 33 years of service.
Don was a member of the Cedar Park United Church choir for 25 years. He enjoyed softball, hockey, lawn bowling and playing bridge.
Friends will be received from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, March 17, 2013, at Rideau Funeral Home, 4275 Sources Blvd., Dollard des Ormeaux, Quebec, followed by a memorial service.
In lieu of flowers, a donation in Don's memory to the Alzheimer's Association would be appreciated.
