The letter to the editor from John K. Coyle of Bedford published in the Mirror on Friday, Feb. 15 is further proof of the mindless drivel that uninformed and ignorant people put forth concerning gun control.
It is obvious that the man is not a gun owner nor a shooter or hunter. That being said, I wonder why he spends so much time watching gun owners "fondle" their weapons? His pitiful attempt to embarrass those of us who are gun owners really isn't worthy of the space your paper gave him.
The only thing he stated that I agree with is the fact that we get a thrill when we shoot well, whether it be in target or the taking of a game animal.
We gun owners take great pride in being the best shot we can possibly be. What is wrong with that?
Coyle obviously gets a thrill out of thinking he is a writer of some skill, but his gutter-minded drivel is anything but that.
The gun issue is not going anywhere soon, and there are people much more articulate than Coyle who will be debating this issue, both in print and in a court of law. It's typical of this limited mentality to lump all gun owners into one's simple-minded category.
