Thomas L. Claar

Thomas L. Claar, 98, East Freedom, passed away Monday at home.

He was born in East Freedom, son of the late Burdine and Jennie Catherine (Allison) Claar. He married Lorraine L. Long on May 29, 1941, in Winchester, Va., and she passed away June 10, 1988.

Surviving are a special friend, Aldine Lingenfelter; and several nephews, including Tab Black of Hollidaysburg.

He was preceded in death by two brothers: Russell and Kenneth; and a sister, Leora.

Thomas was a 1932 graduate of Hollidaysburg High School. He retired as an electrician from Conrail in 1979 and also worked in the family business, E.H.&B. Claar Lumber, most of his life.

Thomas attended Upper Claar Church of the Brethren and was a life member of Leamersville Church of the Brethren and a member of the Roaring Spring Lions Club.

Friends will be received from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, March 7, 2013, at Leslie-Miller Funeral Home, Claysburg. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 8, 2013, at Upper Claar Church of the Brethren, Pastor Greg Quintrell officiating. Interment will be at Alto-Reste Park Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be given to Upper Claar Church of the Brethren.
