Lorraine E. Helsel, 90, East Freedom, died Sunday morning after a brief illness.
She was born in Queen, daughter of the late Myrle and Maude (Walter) Eicher. She married Kenneth F. Helsel on Aug. 29, 1947, in Bellefonte, and he died Aug. 4, 1995.
Surviving are three children: Rosemary Middleton and husband, Ben, of Hereford, Ariz., Zane R. and wife, Joni, of Ewing, N.J., and Wayne and wife, Camille, of Big Cove Tannery; five grandchildren: Stacie Brown, Chris Brown, Brian Helsel, Luke Helsel and Adam Helsel; three great-grandchildren: Ian Palmer, Sara J. Helsel and Cole Helsel; and two sisters: Dorothy Eicher of Altoona and Joan Housel of Claysburg.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Louise Crilly.
Lorraine was a 1940 graduate of Greenfield Township High School and a member of Greenfield United Church of Christ. She enjoyed traveling, arts and crafts festivals and church activities.
At the request of the deceased, a private service will be officiated by Pastor Robert Penner. Interment will be made at Alto-Reste Park Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Lorraine's memory may be given to the Greenfield Charge of the United Church of Christ, P.O. Box 428, Claysburg, PA 16625, or the American Cancer Society, Blair Unit, 1004 N. Juniata St., Hollidaysburg, PA 16648.
