Vincent Jim Lardieri Sr., 96, Altoona, went to be with the Lord Tuesday at his home.
He was born in Altoona, son of Pasquale "Patsy" and Theresa (Delorenzo) Lardieri.
Surviving are six daughters: Dona Foy (John) and Nancy Rhone (Charles), both of Altoona, Beverly Lardieri of Carlisle and Patricia McHenry (Earl), Phyllis Adams and Florence Lardieri, all of Altoona; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter, Madison; and three sisters: Alma Bidoli, Verna DeCoskey and Dorothy Burns, all of Altoona.
He was preceded in death by two sons: Robert and Vincent Jr.; four brothers: Angelo, Frank, Herman and Richard; and seven sisters: Lucile Strohm, Teddy Maloney, Jean Alvarez, Mary Pruehs, Constance Lardieri, Marie Schroeder and Delores Teologo.
Jim served in the U.S. Army during WWII as a staff sergeant and earned a Bronze Star. He retired as an electrician and crane operator from Conrail in 1976 with 47 years of service. He was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church and was a life member and past president of the United Veterans Association, Buccinese Society and American Legion.
Jim enjoyed fishing, working with his brother, Herman, at the United Veterans Association Club and watching the Pittsburgh Steelers and Penn State play, and he loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Friends will be received from 9 to 10:15 a.m. Saturday, March 2, 2013, at Santella Funeral Home. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church. Committal will be at Calvary Cemetery with full military honors.
