Irene R. "Tootsie" (Gelletta) Suchta, 87, Lilly, was called to her eternal rest Monday at Altoona Regional.
She was born in Gallitzin, daughter of the late Joseph and Rose (Molnar) Gelletta. She was the loving wife of Joseph Suchta, whom she married May 17, 1963, in St. Mary's Catholic Church, Gallitzin.
She was the beloved mother of Joanne Dunmyer and husband, Bill, of Lilly, Theresa "Te" Przybys and husband, Dave, in South Carolina and Thomas "TJ" of Lilly; devoted Gram to a special granddaughter, Danielle Dunmyer; beloved sister of Margaret Strasser of Gallitzin and John Gelletta and wife, Shirley, and Bob Gelletta and wife, Fran, both in Michigan; and special sister-in-law of Belle Suchta of Altoona and Steve and Mary Ann Suchta of Lilly. Aunt Tootsie will be sadly missed by many special nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two sisters: Anne Vinglas and Rosalie Litzinger Rager; two brothers: Joseph "Yoke" Gelletta and Merle Gelletta; two granddaughters: Amanda and Brittany Dunmyer; and many nieces and nephews.
Irene was employed for many years at Gallitzin Publix Shirt Factory. She was a member of Our Lady of the Alleghenies Catholic Church, Lilly. She enjoyed being a homemaker, sewing, doing word finds, listening to polkas, preparing delicious meals for her family and most of all spending time with her granddaughter, Danielle.
Friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 1, 2013, at Thomas F. Cloherty Funeral Home, Lilly, where a vigil for the deceased will be held Friday afternoon. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 2, 2013, at Our Lady of the Alleghenies Chapel, Portage Street, Lilly, Monsignor John R. Sasway as celebrant. Committal will be at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Cemetery, Lilly.
