Erma L. Burns, 72, Bellwood, died Wednesday morning at Altoona Regional.
She was born in Union Furnace, daughter of Cloyd E. and Malinda G. (Wilson) Bitting. She married George A. Burns, who preceded her in death on Aug. 31, 1981.
Surviving are six children: Dixie L. of Watsontown, Kay Jones of Bellwood, Larry L. Thompson of Picture Rocks, Randy A. (Eloise) Thompson of Bellwood, Connie E. (Chris) Blowers of Tyrone and Georgie L. Novak of Bellwood; two stepchildren: Edward R. Burns and Karen M. Hammel; 22 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; a sister, Linda S. Knarr; and a brother, Cloyd Lee Bitting.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda S. Burns; and a sister, Diana Lee.
Erma had been a resident of Bellwood for the past 15 years. She loved bingo and playing cards and enjoyed camping, cooking for her family and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 1, 2013, and 10 until the 11 a.m. funeral service Saturday, March 2, 2013, at Richard H. Searer Funeral Home Inc., Tyrone, Pastor Ben Hoover officiating. A private interment will be at Alto-Reste Park Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
