Mabel Delores "Dorie" Knox, 87, formerly of Greenwood, Altoona, went home to be with the Lord Monday at Garvey Manor, Hollidaysburg.
She was born in Duncansville, daughter of the late Warren M. and Mary B. (Waite) Knox.
Surviving are a niece, Tracey McDermitt, who was raised in the home; and numerous other nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by five sisters and two brothers. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Mabel retired from Phillips Electric in 1977 after 42 years of service. She was also the former owner of Dorie's School of Dance for more than 20 years. She was a member of the former Fifth Avenue United Methodist Church, Altoona, where she was a Sunday school coordinator and teacher.
Friends will be received from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 28, 2013, at Myers-Somers Funeral Home Inc., 501 Sixth Ave., Altoona, followed by a funeral service at 6:30 p.m., the Rev. Charles L. Baughman officiating. Interment will be made at Carson Valley Cemetery.
