Victor O. Gates Jr., 74, Altoona, died Saturday morning at his residence after an extended illness.
He was born in Altoona, son of the late Victor O. Sr. and E. Lucille (Sollar) Gates. He married Suzanne M. Ackerman on June 20, 1959, at the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament, Altoona, and she died Oct. 19, 1998.
Surviving are a daughter, Victoria Lantzer of Wake Forest, N.C.; a son, Eric A. of Camp Hill; and two granddaughters: Melissa and Jennifer Lantzer.
Victor was a 1956 graduate of Altoona High School. He retired in 1998 as a self-employed salesman of restaurant and bar equipment with 45 years in the workforce. He was a member of St. Mark's Catholic Church, Altoona.
At the request of the deceased, there will be no public visitation. Committal rites will be held at Grandview Cemetery, Altoona.
