Byron F. O'Donald, 91, Altoona, died Friday at The Lutheran Home at Hollidaysburg.
He was born in Altoona, son of the late Clarence A. and Mabel A. (Kaylor) O'Donald.
Surviving are five children: June Casella (Don) of Huntingdon, Alma O'Donald Vance of Altoona, Byron F. O'Donald Jr. (Angie) in New Mexico, Debora A. Horton (Chester) of Hollidaysburg and Ginny Kay Carnell of Altoona; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and his ex-wife, Phyllis (Buchanan) O'Donald.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Carol; a granddaughter, Kerrie Marie; three brothers; a sister; and two ex-wives: Janet Boyles O'Donald and Verneda Brown O'Donald.
Byron served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He retired as an engineer from Conrail in 1977 after more than 36 years of service. He was an avid hunter, but his main interest was tinkering with small engines, especially steam engines. At one time, he ran the steam engine at the former Bland's Park.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 21, 2013, at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home Inc., Juniata, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 22, 2013, the Rev. Sharon Erb officiating. Interment will be at Grandview Cemetery.
