Kenneth L. Noel, 83, of Tyrone and a resident of Hollidaysburg Veterans Home, died Tuesday at the home.
He was born in Tyrone, son of Calvin and Sophia (Johnson) Noel.
Surviving are a son, Stephen J. (Michele) of Altoona; two stepchildren: Debbie (Keith) Lemaster of Altoona and Tammy Stiver of Williamsburg; two grandchildren: Mason and Mackenzi; five stepgrandchildren: Kenny, Jason, Toby, Amanda and Heather; and a sister, Pauline Riffle (Stanley) of Aliquippa.
He was preceded in death by two brothers: Bud and Calvin; and a sister, Ethel Keefer.
Kenneth was a 1949 graduate of Tyrone High School and attended California University of Pennsylvania. After high school graduation, he was recruited for football by a number of major schools. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran and retired in 1990 as a machinist at Veeder-Root Co. after 32 years of service.
Kenneth was a member of Sinking Valley Country Club, Bavarian Aid Society, Juniata VFW and the Tyrone High School Monogram Club.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 21, 2013, and 10 until the 11 a.m. funeral service Friday, Feb. 22, 2013, at Richard H. Searer Funeral Home Inc., Tyrone, the Rev. Norman E. Huff officiating. There will be a flag presentation by the Tyrone Honor Guard. Interment will be at the convenience of the family.
