Frank V. Spagnola, 88, Altoona, died Sunday at Altoona Regional.
He was born in Altoona, son of the late Gabriele and Ida (D'Agostino) Spagnola. He married Elizabeth "Betty" Leberfinger on Sept. 11, 1948, in Altoona, and she preceded him in death in November 1989.
Surviving are a son, Frank V. Jr. (Rosanne) of Williamsburg; a daughter, Michele McNichol (Scott) of Altoona; three grandchildren: Scott McNichol (Lisa), C.C. McNichol and Sue Rader (Ryan); eight great-grandchildren: Budd, Cecelia, Milo, Troy, Carmen, Vallik, Porcelain and Eynin; four brothers: William, Joe, Frank and Tony Spano; and his longtime girlfriend, Jane Grazier.

He was preceded in death by a son, Richard, in 2004; two brothers; and a sister.
Frank was a 1942 graduate of Niagara Falls High School. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII and retired from Conrail in 1987 as a clerk in the storeroom. He was a former member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and a member of VFW Post 3, Unter Uns, Bavarian Aid Society, Bellwood Eagles, Newburg Fire Hall and A&J Iaia American Legion Post.
Frank enjoyed gambling and visiting casinos.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2013, at The Stevens Mortuary Inc., 1421 Eighth Ave., Altoona. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 21, 2013, in Stevens Memorial Chapel by Monsignor Stanley Carson. Committal will be at Calvary Cemetery.
