Dorothy M. "Dot" Caldwell, 82, McKee, died Friday morning at her residence, following a brief illness.
She was born in Clinton County, daughter of the late John Jefferson and Hazel Marie (Huff) Gaines. She married Walter Winfield Caldwell on Oct. 13, 1948, in Norfolk, Va. He died on April 8, 2002.
She is survived by five sons: William D. Caldwell and wife, Beverly, of Valparaiso, Ind., Walter "John" Caldwell and wife, Marcella, of Valparaiso, Ind., Gerald J. Caldwell of East Freedom, Kenneth W. Caldwell and wife, Cheryl, of Portage, Ind., and Robert L. Caldwell of East Freedom; 15 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Michael Gaines and wife, Denise, of Erie.
She was preceded in death by a grandson, Joshua Joseph Caldwell; and a sister and a brother: Helen and Knook Gaines.
Dorothy was a member of the Leamersville Church of the Brethren.
She graduated from high school in Clearfield County.
She enjoyed quilting, camping and watching her children play sports.
She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Roaring Spring Chapter 121, and the Roaring Spring Lions Club.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Todd T. Thompson Funeral Home Inc., Roaring Spring. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Leamersville Church of the Brethren by Pastor Stephen Durr. Interment will follow in Leamersville-Riverview Cemetery.
