Highlanders turn up defense for win

PATTON - Cambria Heights used its defense to hold Bishop Guilfoyle to 16 second-half points Wednesday night as the Highlanders knocked off the Marauders, 56-49, in a Laurel Highlands Athletic Conference high school boys basketball matchup.

Isaac Vescovi's 25 points were tops for Heights, which trailed, 34-28, at the break. Nathan Bearer and Brad Hoppel added 13 and 10 points, respectively.

Guilfoyle (16-4) got 12 points from Pat Irwin and 10 more from Zach Patterson.

BELLWOOD - Katy Leamer delivered 26 points and 12 rebounds to help Bellwood-Antis roll past Glendale in an Inter-County Conference North Division game.

Bellwood, which won the ICC North and will play Southern Fulton for the ICC overall title on Saturday, improved to 20-1 overall and 13-0 in the division.

Ana Hollen contributed 10 points, seven steals, seven rebounds and six assists for the Lady Devils. Katelyn Matthews scored 14 points for Glendale.
