Gladys L. Shoup, 88, Altoona, died Tuesday at Valley View Home.
She was born in Charleston, W.Va., daughter of the late Fred and Mary (Conaway) Glover. She married Robert L. Shoup on Feb. 14, 1949, in Winchester, Va., and he preceded her in death Jan. 28, 2012.
Surviving are three children: Robert E. (Patty) of Altoona, Timothy A. (Barbara) of Sinking Valley and Helen P. Schmitt (Louie) of Altoona; 10 grandchildren: Tammy DeSola, Laura Shoup, Rebecca Hufford, Dawn Howard, Jeffrey Shoup, Casey Shoup, Shena Long, Heather Guirand, Lauren Schmitt and Lori Arnold; 14 great-grandchildren; and two sisters: Sylvia Benner and Loullabelle Harrison, both in Ohio.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Bonnie Lee Howard.
Gladys was a 1944 graduate of Altoona High School and was a member of Faith United Church of Christ. She loved to roller skate and was a very active member of Salem United Church of Christ prior to its merger with Faith United Church of Christ.
Friends will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 15, 2013, at The Stevens Mortuary Inc., 1421 Eighth Ave., Altoona. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013, in Stevens Memorial Chapel by Pastor John Emig. Interment will be at Blair Memorial Park, Bellwood.
