Thelma A. Chamberlin, 95, Lakemont, died Sunday at the Hollidaysburg Veterans Home after a brief illness.
She was born in Grazierville, daughter of Ira and Marguerite (Hoffman) Free. She married Robert Chamberlin, and he died in 1983.
Surviving are a daughter, Carol Hawbaker and husband, David, of Surf City, N.C.; a son, Robert Jr. and wife, Regina, of Hollidaysburg; four grandchildren: Brenda Chamberlin-Piotti of Altoona, Dennis Stahl and wife, Kelly, of Surf City, Gary Stahl of Inwood, W.Va., and Jason Stahl and wife, Sherry, of Surf City; six great-grandchildren: Jessie, Meganne, Paige, Rachel, Kristen and Charlie; two great-great-grandchildren: Blake and Chloe; and a sister, Virginia Socey of Lakemont.
She was preceded in death by two brothers: Harold and Joseph Free; two infant siblings; and a lifelong "sister," Mary Buckley.
Thelma was a 1936 graduate of Hollidaysburg High School. She was a member of Lakemont Church of God and enjoyed puzzles, crocheting and spending time with her family.
Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2013, at The Good Funeral Home Inc., Alto-Reste Park Cemetery, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 14, 2013, by the Rev. Peggy J. Bonsell.
