TYRONE - A Tyrone native is the new president and CEO of American Eagle Paper Mills.
Michael Grimm will assume that position as well as a position on the board of directors on Feb. 25.
Grimm succeeds John Ferner, who served as the company's president since its beginning in 2003 until his retirement in December.
Grimm, who has a broad manufacturing background, most recently served as executive vice president and general manager at North American Communications in Duncansville.
Delmont Sunderland, chairman of the search committee for Team Ten LLC, a group of key former managers and local investors, which owns the mill, said Grimm was a "standout in a long, intensive nationwide search."
"Michael is an experienced, knowledgeable executive with a can-do, upbeat attitude, a hands-on leader, who has built and motivated strong teams to generate and sustain a competitive advantage. He is passionate, intelligent, and he truly cares about American Eagle's employees, customers and the town of Tyrone. We welcome him with enthusiasm and high expectations," Sunderland said in a statement.
Grimm has spent many years of his career in the paper industry in numerous roles starting as an engineer with Mead Products. Before joining North American Communications, he held several executive roles at Seton Co., a global automotive interiors supplier.
Grimm, who earned a bachelor's degree in engineering from Penn State University and has also completed several executive courses from the Harvard Business School and the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, is excited about coming to the paper mill.
"American Eagle Paper Mills has such a fantastic story of success and is a pillar of the Tyrone community," said Grimm in a statement. "I am humbled at the opportunity to join the Tyrone team and lead the company into the future, to work hard at sustaining jobs for future generations."
Grimm currently lives with his wife, Ieva, and two sons in Duncansville.
