ALEXANDRIA - The Central wrestling team crowned six champions on Saturday at the Juniata Valley Tournament, which helped the Scarlet Dragons win the team title over five other opponents in high school action.
At 113, Kale Burket beat Everett's Ben Stover, by fall, in the finals. Teammate Terry Albright won the 132-pound title over Tyrone's Luke McCloskey, 7-1. Nick Hoenstine beat Juniata Valley's Caleb Wagner, 4-0, at 138-pound, while Mike Mock won the 152-pound title, 15-7, over Bellwood-Antis' Jeremy Wilson. Blake Burket pinned Bellwood-Antis' Bruce Knisely in 1:59 at 170, while Jared Ponder won the 182-pound final over Juniata Valley's Noah Hess, 5-0.
The Dragons had runners-up in Collin Ulery at 120, Jordan Quarello at 126 and Trae Shirey at 145.
Kayron Joseph (106), Isaac Little (195) and Wes Heuston (285) finished third. Canyon Burda finished fourth at 160.
Knights win 3 titles
SELINSGROVE - Moshannon Valley finished third with three champions on Saturday at the Richard Smoker Tournament held at Selinsgrove High School.
Kent Stewart won the 182-pound title with a 6-0 decision over Troy's Cody Ercolino. James Stodart captured the 195-pound title with a fall over Selinsgrove's Austin Lewis. Teammate Jake Ludwig won the 220-pound honor with a fall over Tanner Deam of North Schuylkill.
All three wrestlers went 2-0 in the eight-team tournament.
Second-place honors went to Bryce Bloom (126), Ryan Thomas (132), Sam Ohler (145) and Jack Bunnell (285). Nick Krupa (106) and Cody Hamilton (152) finished fourth in a tournament won by Troy.
Tiger juniors seventh
STATE COLLEGE - The Hollidaysburg junior high team took seventh at the Big 7 Championships held at State College Junior High School.
The Tigers crowned one champion on the day, Nathan Swartz, who went 3-0 at 85 pounds. Hunter Gill took second at 250, going 2-1.
Third-place honors at the event were earned by Jarett Cavalet (110), Dalton Long (122), Braden Curry (145), Noah Worley (155) and Michael Ollinger (185). Matt Hines finished fourth at 80 pounds.
