Thanks, Altoona. Now that you are a "distressed" city, your taxes went up, and my paycheck went down.
Maybe if you enforced parking laws already on the books, you would ticket those who park on the wrong side of the street, going the wrong direction; not to mention those who park too close to stop signs.
That income might exceed the income from the tax increase.
Thanks, environmentalists:?Because of you and your increasing regulations regarding the Chesapeake Bay, Altoona - a distressed city - must increase its sewage rates.
The last time I checked the map, Altoona was some distance from the Chesapeake Bay. Now my spending money will be less, because my water/sewage bill is higher.
I already pay higher water rates, since Altoona asked everyone to conserve water - which we did - and water usage went down, so rates had to increase to make up the decrease.
Thanks, Congress. You don't have the guts to stop the incessant spending, putting the financial future of our country at risk. You make people think that if you don't raise the debt ceiling that the U.S. will default on its debts.
Our paychecks have gone down, but we still make our payments. Not raising the debt ceiling only means that you will not borrow more money. Is that so bad? The threat of a default is nothing more than a scare tactic.
Thanks, Mr. Obama. Your insistence on higher taxes caused my paycheck to go down. I am not rich (although I do consider myself rich in blessings, privileged to live in the greatest country on the earth), nor do I think I am in the "middle class."
I work two nonprofit jobs. The tax increase on the so-called rich touched my paycheck. Payroll taxes went up, and my paycheck went down.
Isn't there anyone out there who can run for public office and truly fix some of these problems? Isn't there anyone out there who stands for conservative principles, and values the Constitution over executive orders that blatantly disregard the Constitution? Isn't there anyone out there who can say, "We have had enough!"
If you're there, you have my support, and I suspect the support of many more Altoonans and Americans.
David Greenwood,
Altoona
