Robert Gordon "Bo" Forney, 21, Altoona, passed away unexpectedly Monday evening.
He was born in Altoona, son of Ronald T. and Nancy W. (Whitley) Forney.
Surviving are his parents of Altoona; a sister, Shannon L. of Bear, Del.; his maternal grandmother, Merna D. Ford of Zachary, La.; along with numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Robert T. and Lila L. Forney; and his maternal grandfather, John B. Whitley.
Bo was a 2010 graduate of Altoona Area High School, where he was involved in various activities, clubs and charitable events, including "AAHS Goes Global," REACH and the drama club, and was the boys' basketball team manager. He appeared in numerous Mountain Lion Television broadcasts. He attended Mount Aloysius College.
He currently was employed by Carmike Cinemas. Bo was a member of Christ Community United Methodist Church, where he was an acolyte, and participated in Angel Food Ministries. He was a social member of Park Hills Country Club.
Bo enjoyed playing sports and was an avid sports fan. He played football and wrestled at Roosevelt Junior High School. He played baseball for the 2008 George B. Kelley Amateur Baseball Federation Champion RE/MAX Realty team. In 2009, he received the Lee Porter Memorial Sportsmanship Award for the Kelley Federation. Since 2008, he had served as batboy for the Altoona Curve, where he developed many cherished friendships with his associates, management, coaches, umpires, players and fans. His favorite teams were the Altoona Curve, Pittsburgh Pirates and New Orleans Saints.
Bo enjoyed hanging out with family and friends, going on family vacations, attending Altoona Curve games and listening to the Beatles. He was an aficionado of movies and graphic novels. He touched many lives, and his vibrant personality, infectious smile and love and concern for others will be greatly missed by his family, friends and loved ones.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Feb. 8, 2013, at The Stevens Mortuary Inc., 1421 Eighth Ave., Altoona, and 10 until the 11 a.m. funeral service Saturday, Feb. 9, 2013, at Christ Community United Methodist Church, 5715 Roselawn Ave., Altoona, by Pastor Peter Raser. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the American Heart Association.
