Betsy R. Neely, 74, Taylor Apartments, Altoona, died unexpectedly Sunday at her residence.
She was born in Clarion, daughter of the late George and Bert (Neese) Spangler. She married Thomas D. Neely Jr. on Dec. 24, 1956, in Flat Rock, Mich., and he died Feb. 27, 2005.
Surviving are six children: Thomas D. II and wife, Dee, of Stafford, Va., Timothy E. and wife, Donna, of Mount Union, Penny Pesco of Blue Ridge Summit, Pepper L. Burgess and husband, Frank, of Woodbridge, Va., Terry L. and wife, Judy, of Mount Union and Angela of Holt, Mich.; 22 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; a sister, Nancy Lewis of Oklahoma City, Okla.; and a half sister, Tracy Johnston of Norfolk, Va.
She was preceded in death by a brother, William Spangler; and a half sister, Tammy Spangler.
Betsy graduated from Clarion-Limestone High School. She was a member of the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament, Altoona. She was a wife and mother and enjoyed taking care of her husband and children. She also enjoyed her religion, painting, embroidering and games.
Friends will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Jones Funeral Home, where a vigil for the deceased will be held at 5 p.m. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 7, 2013, at the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament, Altoona. Committal rites will be at Quantico National Cemetery, Quantico, Va.
