John Anthony Nardella, 70, Oakton, Va., passed away peacefully Saturday evening, Feb. 2, 2013, with his wife and children at his side.
He was born in Altoona, the adored son of the late John Patrick and Frances Rose (Grillo) Nardella.
Surviving are his loving wife of 42 years, Lana Paula (Barber); his beloved children: John P. (Mindi), Christopher S. (Andrea) and Ann M. Lloyd (Scott); 10 grandchildren: Abigail Mae, Claire Elizabeth, Samuel John, Christopher Alec, Ava Jean, Taylor McKenzie, Helena Therese, Edward Scott, Mark Henry and Francesca Laura; a sister, Nancy Marie Romagnoli; nieces and nephews; and his mother-in-law, Laura C. Ward.
John was a graduate of Altoona Catholic High School and continued on to receive a master's degree in chemical engineering from Penn State University. He worked as a professional chemical engineer for the federal government for the majority of his career, and he was an active member of the Knights of Columbus. He loved his Italian heritage and most enjoyed sharing good meals and conversation while relaxing with his family and dear friends. He gave endless support, loyalty and kindness and passed on the everlasting gifts of a cherished family and unconditional love to his wife, children and grandchildren.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 8, 2013, at St. Mark Catholic Church, 9970 Vale Road, Vienna, Va. Inurnment will follow in the church gardens columbarium.
