Taxes are not a popular subject these days.
I read Page B1 of the Jan. 10 Altoona Mirror and said, "Here we go again with taxes," then realizing it was federal taxes being reported on.
I thought that maybe Blair County might be coming out of the dark ages with the existing property tax code.
We need to follow the Bedford idea of bring the county tax code into the 21st century. We cannot maintain the existing tax income and continue to pay the ever increasing cost incurred.
Need an example? Look at the federal government.
Something should be done. County officials should get together and do something.
Don't do like the Feds have with overloading requirement on requirement. Just use the old standby, KISS, which stands for "keep it simple stupid."
It is not popular but it is going to have to be done sooner or later. The sooner the better.
