Regarding the closing of SCI Cresson, I would like to know an answer to this question: Who will foot the bill for the millions of dollars worth of upgrades completed in the last several years?
These upgrades include a brand new bio mass boiler plant and equipment, a new steam turbine electric generator and the total replacement of the entire fire alarm system.
I believe the answer may be the taxpayers of Pennsylvania. These upgrades were all part of an escrow project that was done to save money over a period of years through savings.
Will the taxpayer have to pay for these projects? If not then, who?
Paying millions of dollars our state doesn't have to close a fully functional institution is not logical to me. And the citizens of PA should be made aware of this wasteful plan.
The governor is trying to go after the public pensions after years of the state underfunding the pension plan. But he can waste millions closing a needed institution. He should at least try to recoup the money that was invested before throwing it out the window.
