Thelma L. "Nanny" Clapper, 76, Tyrone, died peacefully Thursday surrounded by family at Epworth Manor, Tyrone, after an extended illness.
She was born in Tyrone, daughter of George and Florence (Pressler) Huff. She married Henry A. Clapper Sr. on Sept. 27, 1975, in Tyrone, and he died Sept. 8, 2001.
Surviving are four daughters: Billie Jo Richards, Georgia L. Monsam (Pete), Rita A. DeCarlo and Cindy L. Woodring (Chuck); a son, Robert E. Shirey; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Donald Shirey; three brothers; six sisters; a grandson, Randy A. Estright Jr.; and a great-granddaughter, Rose Mary Montgomery.
Thelma enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, crocheting, traveling and watching Pittsburgh Steelers and Penn State football.
Friends will be received from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 3, 2013, and 2 until the 4 p.m. funeral service Monday, Feb. 4, 2013, at The Good Funeral Home Inc., Alto-Reste Park Cemetery, the Rev. Norman Huff and Pastor Peggy Bonsell officiating.
