Marjorie L. Burger, 77, East Freedom, passed away Monday at Altoona Regional.
She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Charles and Mary (Noonan) Irwin. She married Sherwood A. Burger on July 28, 1956, in Altoona.
Surviving are her husband; four children: Brice and wife, Penny, of Martinsburg, Pamela Burger-England and husband, William, of Roaring Spring, Mary Ellen Burger-Glass of Duncansville and Daniel of Duncansville; eight grandchildren: Benjamin, Lauren, Rachael, Will, Andy, Joey, Aaron and Luke; two great-grandchildren: Ava and Owen; and a sister, Johanna Carper of Port Matilda.
She was preceded in death by a brother, John Irwin.
Marjorie was a 1952 graduate of Altoona High School and a 1956 graduate of the Altoona Hospital School of Nursing. She retired as a registered nurse from the Department of Public Welfare in 1990 and previously had been employed at the Hollidaysburg State Hospital and Altoona Hospital. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, baseball, cooking and reading.
There will be no viewing. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 31, 2013, at Miller Funeral Home, East Freedom, Pastor Rich McCarron officiating.
